Greg Curbow Custom Five String Bass GuitarGreg Curbow Custom Five String Bass Guitar

Greg Curbow Custom Five String Electric Bass GuitarThis is a pre-Cort bass. Greg built it himself.I bought this guitar sometime in the spring of 1985. Greg had built four guitars on speculation for the bass player of a very famous band. Two of them were four stings and two were five strings. The bassist purchased three of the guitars. I purchased the fourth.I am not sure what the guitar top and wings of the headstock are made of. I have compared it to many different types of wood. It could be Bubinga, Morado/Pau Ferro or some type of Walnut. It is a hand rubbed oil finish. It is beautiful whatever it is.The bass has the following features:34″ scaleNeck through body construction with double truss rodsPurpleheart neckEbony fingerboard with mother of pearl dot fret markersString spacing 1 15/16″ at nut, 3 1/16 at bridgeGotoh tuning machines with a matching Hipshot Bass Extender on the B stringGotoh bridgeThe nut is made out of Corian (like the countertops)A full two+ octave fingerboard 24 frets for the B string 25 frets for the E, A and D strings 26 frets for the G stringBartolini 9 volt active preamp and electronics and pickupsVolume, pickup pan, treble, mid and bass controls with an active/passive toggle switchSchaller staplocksTweed caseThe guitar and case alone weigh in at 28 pounds. With packing materials the final size and weight should be 50″ x 20″ x 8″ at 30 pounds. There is a $14.95 packing fee. With UPS insurance, the first $100.00 of value is free. After that it is $1.50 per each $100.00 in value. I must insist that it be fully insured.I live in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area. I would be glad to arrange a local pick up to avoid the shipping costs and dangers.Thank you for your interest.
