Please read my 3 days return policy at the bottom of the page. Alberto Canto Concert 1999This guitar was made in Valencia, Spain in 1999. Because I was not able to find any information about its maker, I assume that Alberto Canto is one of countless little-known Spanish makers located in Valencia. As most players know, Valencia is the region with many guitar factories making huge numbers of rather cheap “guitarras valencianas”. Guitar you are looking at is certainly not a cheap one, and even if it was made at the factory, it was certainly made all by hand. Selection of woods and many elements of its construction suggest that it was made by very skilled maker, who knew how to make it sound great and play easy. Its top is made from very fine (very tight grain with “eyes”) Cedar. The soundboard is so thin that one can see bracing pattern through it. This bracing is very similar to that used by top Spanish luthiers, certainly not common at guitar factories. Similarly, neck reinforcement structure is only found on higher end Spanish made instruments. In terms of volume and tonality, this guitar represents higher level than all midrange Ramirez models distributed in USA. It is offers great volume, yet with great level of note clarity and separation. Its basses are deep, with bunch of overtones, yet quite clean at the same time. Its trebles are thick, round yet clear. Sustain is very impressive as well. This certainly is a concert level instrument. Its overall condition can be described as “very good for its age”. Guitar has few light dents and string burns on its top, E1 strings have made a cut through tie end block of the bridge, there is hair like crack in the finish on the top located close to fingerboard on the E6 side. This is only a surface crack and doesn’t reach the wood. Guitar doesn’t have any structural problems. With its current action plays very easy.Specifications:Top: High Grade Solid Cedar Top / lacquerBack and Sides: Solid Indian Rosewood / urethaneNeck: Spanish cedar with 3ply reinforcementFingerboard: EbonyNut and Saddle: BoneNut Width: 52 mmScale: 650 mmAction is set to 3.50 mm under E6 and 3.00 mm under E1, with very little extra room on the saddle.
