Tut Taylor Resonator Guitar-custom By Mark TaylorTut Taylor Resonator Guitar-custom By Mark Taylor

Guitar was custom made for me by Mark Taylor in summer of 2011. This is not a Crafters of Tennessee or off the shelf Tut Taylor model. It was custom ordered and made by Tut Taylor’s son Mark who is the builder and overseer of anything with Tut’s name on it. Beautifully inlayed head stock and ebony fret board, with tight grained fir top and sunburst stained maple sides and back. It is nitrocellulose lacquer finished with a hand rolled cone and a Hi-rise cover plate. It is an accurate reproduction of the Model 27 California Dobro of the 1930’s. This guitar is truly a joy to play with crisp volume and piano like tones. Only other work done on the guitar was by Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto, the best guitar shop in the world with Frank Ford at the helm. It has a Fishman Pro-Res internal pickup which is the best and most natural sounding Reso pick-up ever and is used by many of Nashville’s best pickers including at one time Jerry Douglas. Comes with a very nice $250 R.Poff strap which has been set up with a Schaller strap lock system. The strap balances well, is extremely comfortable, and works very nicely. I would never be selling if not for a really tight financial situation. This is a stellar price for a very special Dobro but I really need the cash. Comes with original hard shell case. Will be shipped by way of UPS Ground with full value insurance for a flat rate of $65.00. Available for sale in the contiguous US only. NO out of US bidders. Please have established eBay feedback with no neg marks or your bid with be blocked. Call me with any questions or to make an offer at (415) 215-1552. Here is a letter from Mark Taylor while we were working out the details on the order for the guitar: “Thanks much.Hi Bruce, I have enclosed a couple of pictures showing 2 different color schemes that I was considering. This reso I was going to finish up for myself…it is constructed like the 1930’s Model 27 California Dobro. It was built for the optimum in sound and volume. It is laminated like the original 27. There are only about 10 of these originals that have been found, it was the model that my Dad (Tut) played through most in his career. The laminations are solid maple, hard solid birch core, and then hard solid maple. These laminations were made up special for me to use on select Tut Taylor models. They are more durable for sustain and tonal sounds and are not nearly as susceptible to changes due to weather and stage temperatures and maintain all the acoustic sounds as the original Dobros of the Golden Era of the 1930’s instruments. I think the “Tut Taylor Reso Inlay” is no doubt the one to go with. It has only been used in 2 custom guitars. This reso would retail for $4749. You can give me a call if you need. Let me know your thoughts. “
