If you are in the market for a vintage low Bit Sampler, like EMU Emulator I, II, or III, EMU SP 1200 / 12, or Akai S900 or S950 with fat analog warm sounding filters… Read on:Up for sale is a fully functioning Korg DSS-1 Sampler/ Synthesizer from 1986. A real monster that has been forgotten through the sands of time. The super warm DSS-1 comes with 8 SSM filter chips.8x NJM-2069 VCF (clone version SSM-2044 from Korg)12 Bit sampling, with Bit crushing capabilities down to 6-Bit. Dual Digital Delay on board from 1986 is also very warm sounding.Included in the sale is the DSS-1, Bound manual, original power cable(rare), 5 floppy disks loaded with sound banks. A case is not included, so it would be wise to bring something to transport in if you plan on purchasing.I live in Ridgewood Queens near Fresh Pond road. It is where the DSS-1 is right now. I have a studio in Brooklyn on Metropolitan and Morgan. I work on 25th street and 6th ave in Manhattan. The DSS-1 can be seen at one of any three locations depending on what is more convenient for you. It is in good physical shape. Please look at photos, no major dings or bends, just from regular use for a 27 year old instrument. The floppy drive goes bad on these almost 99% of the time. This one was professionally replaced recently, so it will be good for decades to come. I am open to trades as well.. Just give me a shout with what you have. You can also upgrade to an SD Card reader floppy emulator as well.An awesome site dedicated to DSS-1 with many upgrades, software editors and more:at glenstegner dot comAbleton integration with Clyphx!Be sure to check the SSM/Curtis chips Wiki page as well. From VintageSynth.com:A wonderful early digital synthesizer. With eight notes of polyphony, two oscillators per voice, a noise source, two multi-stage envelopes, a resonant filter and auto-bend, the DSS-1 has much in common with Korg’s previous flagship DW-8000. But it went much further, boasting twin digital delays, oscillator sync, an improved unison mode, a lush analog VCF switchable between 12 and 24dB, and more. Whereas the DW-8000 got its raw material from 16 stored digital waves, the DSS1’s oscillators take their source from sampling, additive synthesis, or even hand-drawn waveforms!EMU Emulator I II III, EMU Drumulator, EMU SP 1200 SP 12, EMU Emax , Akai s612 s900 s950 s1000 s1100 x7000, Ensoniq EPS, Ensoniq Mirage, Casio FZ-1 FZ-10M FZ-20M, Kurzweil K150, Sequential Cirquits Prophet 2000 VS, Roland S-750 S-770 S-50 D-50 D-550, Yamaha SY-77 SY-99 TG-77
