Vintage 1960's Argonne AR-54 Crystal microphone Midland Olsen Japanese w standVintage 1960's Argonne AR-54 Crystal microphone Midland Olsen Japanese w stand

Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome. You are looking at a 1960’s Argonne model AR-54 model crystal microphone made with an all metal body and chrome front grill. It comes with the Japanese desk stand shown. This style was produced by quite a few Japanese manufacturers at the time such as Monarch, Calrad, Olson, etc… This microphone commonly was called a “bullet mic” due to it’s styling. The Japanese mics never measured up near the same sound quality as the American counterparts but with the crystal elements they pretty much were all on the same playing field. This mic has been cleaned and tested but no longer works. This really should be used for display or prop purposes. These were originally designed to be used with pre-amps to boost the signal of the crystal element but I find many harmonica players like these as they really come alive when cupped closely in the hand. Again…non-working mic. There is typical wear on the original green paint as seen in the pictures provided. A couple scuffs, scratches and nicks. The chrome grill looks pretty good though as does the cloth screen. The label / badge shows lite wear but completely legible. The joint mechanism has weak tension but holds the mic at most angles. This microphone has a classic deco design that was very popular during the 1930’s & 40’s before the look faded out around the 1950’s. It was copied by several manufacturers of microphones back in the day. The cable is in great condition being free of any cracks. Length is only 1 foot and there is a 1/4 inch connector on the end. I would rate this microphone physically a solid 7 on a scale of 1 – 10. MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE… The stand is made in Japan or Taiwan and is adjustable to get just the right height needed. The stand has a cast iron base. The stand is in good overall condition with typical lite wear located on the top of the base. The clutch mechanism works perfectly. The stand with mic sits 9 inches low and can be raised to 16 inches if needed. All 4 rubber pads are still present and keep the stand from scratching any surface it may rest on. The stand makes for a great platform and really compliments the mic. With the mic on top of the stand it sits appx 14 inches high. And as with all my vintage microphones… I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not…I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that’s fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition…period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened due to too many unpaid mics lately. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and…thanks for looking.
